Position Overview
Our veterinary facility is in search of a Veterinary Assistant dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and client support in a dynamic, multi-doctor environment.
The Veterinary Assistant plays a crucial role in aiding Veterinarians with animal care. Responsibilities include assisting during initial assessments by safely restraining animals, preparing examination and surgical areas with necessary supplies, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Additionally, Veterinary Assistants engage with clients (pet owners) and maintain accurate patient records.

  • Exhibits a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrates compassion and care for animals
  • Possesses the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, urgency, and teamwork
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician is essential
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Provides comprehensive animal care by assessing their needs
  • Conducts examinations and diagnostic tests
  • Assists during surgical procedures
  • Feeds and tends to animals
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Records and updates patient information
  • Conducts examinations and interviews to determine animal needs
  • Performs laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Monitors vital signs and collects samples
  • Administers medications, vaccines, and treatments
  • Applies bandages and wound care
  • Conducts hydrotherapy and other therapeutic procedures
  • Prepares necessary supplies and instruments for examinations
  • Communicates animal health status to owners
  • Prepares surgical instruments and maintains sterile conditions
  • Verifies and administers medications
  • Cleans and sanitizes animal enclosures and equipment
  • Ensures a safe and humane environment by adhering to sterilization and safety protocols
  • Enhances service reputation by taking ownership of tasks and exploring ways to improve job performance
  • Performs radiographic imaging as required
