POSITION SUMMARY / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dining Service Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Restaurant Manager.
This role involves supporting a waiter in delivering food and beverage service for a designated station or team within the dining establishments.
The position will rotate between Buffet and Room Service as directed by management.The Dining Service Assistant is responsible for ensuring that guests receive courteous, prompt, and efficient service in line with company standards.
Assist in achieving departmental goals for guest satisfaction and food and beverage revenue by adhering to established service protocols and maximizing up-sell opportunities.
Performs additional related tasks as assigned or directed.The absence of specific duties does not prevent the supervisor from assigning tasks that are logically associated with the role.
Must be knowledgeable about the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and execute the policies and procedures relevant to their position.
Ensures that the assigned station is properly prepared with the necessary amounts of china, glassware, silverware, and mis-en-place before service begins.
Adheres to the sequence of service for food and beverage, following the guidance of the Waiters to ensure timely service to guests.
Addresses any service or product issues that may arise to guarantee guest satisfaction in the assigned area.
Ensures that the assigned station is thoroughly cleaned and set up at the conclusion of the meal period and that all assigned side tasks are completed.
Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to managing non-cooking buffet action stations (e.g., carving station, dessert station).Deliver food and beverage orders to guests' staterooms in accordance with company procedures.
Provide amenities to guests' staterooms.
Assist with private events and functions.
Handle guest phone orders according to established protocols.
Clear service trays from staterooms, corridors, and pantries promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of two years of experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in settings such as a 3 Star or 4 Star land-based hotel/resort, a free-standing restaurant with at least 180 seats, or previous shipboard experience in a similar role is required.
A minimum of two years of experience in selling and serving wine and other beverage products is essential.Intermediate to advanced English verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar usage, are required.
