The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for assessing, managing, directing, and delivering nursing care throughout the patient's hospital experience. This role involves collaboration with other healthcare disciplines to ensure a patient-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Functions include:

  1. Conducting thorough nursing assessments and reassessments.

A) Performing age-appropriate admission or transfer assessments, involving family or guardians as needed.

B) Documenting findings accurately and comprehensively.

C) Assessing post-operative or post-procedure patients.

D) Evaluating and documenting educational and discharge needs for patients and families upon admission and throughout their stay.

E) Providing ongoing patient reassessments, documenting relevant observations according to the care plan and standards.

  1. Developing, coordinating, and evaluating a care plan based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab results, and physician orders.
