Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Interventionist to join our team in the school setting. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the successful candidate will work directly with school-aged students ranging from TK (transitional kindergarten) to age 22. This role requires strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to promoting positive behavior and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement ABA treatment methodologies, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and treatment plans under the supervision of the BCBA.
  • Provide direct support to assigned student(s) to help them achieve their individualized behavior education goals.
  • Assist student(s) in prescribed and approved learning activities and supports classroom instruction.
  • Assist teachers in carrying out procedures and strategies to support goals specified in student BIP.
  • Gather data and case notes on behaviors and skill targets described in the IEP.
  • Demonstrate appropriate response and implementation of feedback, as provided by the BCBA.
  • Follow regulations and laws, and maintain and protect student's private information.
  • Perform related tasks as required.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in a school setting and may involve working with students both in classrooms and other educational environments.
  • The Behavior Interventionist may need to provide support to students with varying levels of mobility and may be required to assist with physical positioning or mobility aids as needed.
  • Regular hours are typically aligned with the school schedule, although occasional evening or weekend commitments for meetings or professional development may be required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years/60 units of higher education or an equivalent of at least two years of experience as a special education or behavioral aide.
  • At least 1 year of classroom experience as a Special Education Aide or Behavioral Aide.
  • Basic knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of developmental disabilities and intervention methodologies.
  • Capable of standing, sitting, and or walking for a long period of time.
  • Previous experience implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs), using applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and collecting data is Preferred.
  • Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques is Preferred.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish, is a plus.
