The unit has a strong emphasis on post-surgical care, and RNs provide care to patients who are moderately stable with fluctuating patient acuity.
The unit operates as a universal bed area, incorporating both acute and progressive level care. This model involves frequent RN assessments and more intensive monitoring, including telemetry. As part of this team, the RN plays a vital role in the interdisciplinary progressive care team, responsible for closely monitoring patients' physiologic conditions, performing ordered treatments, and ensuring a safe transition from progressive to acute care.

- Providing direct patient care, ensuring patient satisfaction, and adhering to University policies and procedures
- Collaborating with the nursing staff and physicians to enhance patient outcomes

They should be able to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities. Additionally, they should have a proven ability to advocate for patients and their families, possess exceptional technical skills, and be highly motivated and proactive.
