Clinical Nurse Specialist

Description: The University of Kentucky is seeking a qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. This position will be based in the Pediatric Extended Recovery Unit (PERU), where we provide care to post-surgical and medical pediatric patients ranging from infant to 18 years of age. Our unit focuses on recovery from general medical surgical procedures, renal biopsy, and various medical conditions.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient-centered care. This includes assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care. You will also deliver direct patient care, ensure patient satisfaction, train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant), and adhere to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills, basic computer navigation skills, and working knowledge of the internet. You must be able to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families, co-workers, and physicians. Additionally, you will require strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work in a team as well as independently.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
