Job DescriptionAs a Rough Plumbing Installer, you'll play a vital role in installing pipes and fixtures for water distribution and drainage systems in residential and commercial structures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting ISO metric plumbing drawings and building specifications to layout pipes and drainage systems
- Installing pipes and fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters
- Installing underground soil pipes for drainage in plumbing ditches
- Supporting blocks for pipes or hanging steel supports from ceilings prior to pipe installation
- Assembling and installing prefabricated materials, fittings, and valves
- Modifying pipe lengths as needed for buildings
- Assembling pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using various tools and techniques
- Measuring, cutting, and installing pipes to required angles
- Collaborating with contractors, construction workers, electricians, carpenters, concrete, landscapers, and drywallers to ensure seamless installation and repair of plumbing systems
- Filling pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and checking pressure gauges for leaks
- Inspecting plumbing systems to identify and replace damaged parts
- Overseeing and directing apprentices, laborers, and plumbers engaged in pipe cutting and installation
- Traveling to different job sites as directed by management
Your Key Skills and Qualifications:
- A high school diploma and/or GED, plus three to five years of construction plumbing installation experience, preferably with knowledge in construction practices and procedures
- Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites
- The ability to take direction for plumbing work and perform tasks with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of piping, drainage, and ventilation systems
- Experience reading technical designs and blueprints
- Familiarity with plumbing trade practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment
- Detailed orientation, prioritization, and organization skills
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs
