Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, including professional development days
Compensation Range: $44,000 - $55,000 annually
Position Overview
At Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction, our Special Education Instructors are responsible for designing personalized lesson plans within a comprehensive curriculum framework. Collaborating with colleagues and in partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative, these educators are committed to enhancing both the intellectual and moral development of their students. Our educators strive for continuous improvement in their teaching practices, fostering a culture of excellence and support.
Special Education Instructors should possess experience and/or training to effectively engage with gifted and talented students, as well as those with diverse learning challenges. Attention to detail and punctuality are essential qualities. The role involves working closely with the Dean of Student Services, fellow educators, and paraprofessionals to achieve IEP objectives, monitor instructional minutes, conduct annual reviews, and develop individualized education plans. Successful candidates will cultivate professional relationships with faculty and staff, seek collaborative partnerships with families, and guide students in their personal growth. Educators are expected to exemplify moral character in alignment with the school's core values and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Current Special Education certification
- Strong foundation in core subject areas; willingness to undergo specific training
- Commitment to the principles of a rigorous liberal arts education
- Dedication to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc.
- Commitment to exemplifying moral character consistent with the school's core values
- Compliance with all ACACS policies, including the Employee Handbook and Family Handbook
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to undertake additional related responsibilities as needed
- Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or related field
- Experience in Special Education
