About Us
The University System of Georgia (USG) encompasses 26 higher education institutions along with the University System Office (USO). The administrative operations are primarily situated in the Trinity Washington Building in downtown Atlanta, while our Information Technology Services (ITS) division operates from Athens. The Georgia Public Library System and the Georgia Archives are located in Atlanta and Morrow, respectively.
Job SummaryThis entry-level professional role is dedicated to delivering archival services, focusing on collections management, alongside a weekly commitment to the reference desk for diverse patrons.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchival Record Processing - 80%
Manage and process archival records efficiently.
Reference Services - 10%
Assist patrons with reference inquiries both in person and through various communication channels.
Support for Archival and Public Services - 10%
Conduct certifications of original documents, manage collections, and create digital reproductions of materials.
Educational Background
A Master's degree is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of three courses in archives or a certificate from the Georgia Archives Institute is advantageous.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of one year of relevant experience is essential.
1. Familiarity with reference service principles and practices.
2. Understanding of contemporary archival methodologies.
3. Proficiency in decision-making and problem-solving.
4. Strong interpersonal skills for public engagement.
5. Effective oral and written communication abilities.
6. Competence in utilizing various software applications.
