Job Overview

Position Summary: AIMS Locum Tenens is in search of a skilled Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to provide expert support within the Radiology and Radiation Oncology departments. This position is critical in ensuring the precise and safe administration of radiation therapy through meticulous dosimetry, calibration of equipment, and rigorous quality assurance protocols.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Productivity Standards: Maintain productivity levels that align with industry benchmarks for similar roles.
  • Peer Review: Engage in peer review processes and contribute to performance enhancement initiatives.
  • Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols, ensuring proper management of infectious materials.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow established safety guidelines, particularly concerning radiation safety, to protect both patients and staff.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Act promptly and effectively in emergency scenarios, adhering to established response protocols.
  • Legal and Ethical Standards: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of legal considerations relevant to patient care.

Specific Duties:
  • Beam Data Evaluation: Conduct measurements and analyses of beam data for treatment devices, ensuring accurate input into treatment planning systems.
  • Treatment Planning Contributions: Assist in determining radiation dose distributions and verify the accuracy of dosimetry calculations across various treatment modalities.
  • Quality Assurance Procedures: Execute quality assurance evaluations following maintenance of treatment equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Training Responsibilities: Facilitate educational sessions for dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and medical staff, supporting Graduate Medical Education initiatives.
  • Radiation Safety Monitoring: Aid in the formulation and upkeep of radiation monitoring protocols to meet regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Simulation and Treatment Support: Collaborate in simulation processes and treatment planning, utilizing data management systems effectively.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Participate in scheduled meetings and ensure comprehensive documentation of treatment plans and patient interactions.

Work Schedule:
  • Regular Hours: Services are to be provided Monday through Friday, with shifts typically lasting 8.5 hours, including a 30-minute meal break.
  • On-Call Duties: Share on-call responsibilities equitably with fellow Medical Physicists, with specific coverage expectations outlined.
  • Callback Requirements: Respond to on-call requests promptly, with a commitment to patient care and timely arrival.
  • Overtime Provisions: Remain available beyond scheduled hours when necessary to complete essential services.

Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Master’s or Doctorate in Physics, Medical Physics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Hold subspecialty certification as a Medical Physicist from recognized boards.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a therapeutic medical physics role within a clinical environment.
  • Licensure: Must be listed as an Authorized Medical Physicist by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • References: Provide two recent letters of recommendation attesting to clinical competencies.
