Optum NY Nephrology Physician Opportunity

At Optum NY, we are seeking a highly skilled Nephrologist to join our team at Crystal Run Healthcare in Orange County, NY. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a well-established, state-of-the-art practice serving patients throughout the region.

Position Highlights:

  • Direct support staff and teams to assist with patient care and workflow.
  • Autonomy and independence in practice balancing outpatient care with a strong affiliation with local tertiary care hospitals.
  • Desirable Monday-Friday schedules during normal business hours promoting work-life balance.
  • Manageable and equitably shared rotating on-call support and local inpatient rounding.
  • Patient census - diverse adult-focused patient population.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive testing and treatment of nephrological disorders within a team of highly skilled, fellowship-trained Nephrologists.
  • Diagnose and treat all aspects of kidney disease, including acute renal failure, chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, hypertension, hemodialysis, renal transplant, and electrolyte disorders.
  • Consult with patients about the status of their health, while providing them with the latest advancements in care.
  • Refer patients to advanced specialists as needed.
  • Examine and diagnose patients to determine the need for treatment, procedure, or surgery, and identify associated risks.
  • Order tests and interpret results to determine the best treatment options.
  • Maintain appropriate medical records and results.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of (or in process of completing) accredited relevant fellowship training program.
  • BC/BE in Nephrology.
  • Unrestricted New York State Medical License (or ability to obtain).
  • Current New York State DEA certificate (or ability to obtain).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
