Job Description

This Psychiatric Technician role involves performing selected duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including monitoring the unit for safety, maintaining a quiet atmosphere, managing patient behavior, preparing rooms, orienting patients, checking belongings, and providing routine bed checks. You will also be responsible for providing clinical duties such as phlebotomy, EKGs, finger sticks, assistance with feedings, personal hygiene, ADLs, collecting meal trays, cleaning dining areas, and assisting with inventory control and supply distribution.

Responsibilities

* Maintain a therapeutic milieu and safe environment for all patients
* Monitor the unit for safety at all times
* Manage patient behavior and provide redirection as needed
* Prepare rooms for patient arrival and orient patients to the unit
* Check belongings for hazardous objects or weapons and secure them in designated areas
* Provide routine bed checks and secure areas
* Assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, finger sticks, and other clinical duties as directed by RN

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* A high school diploma or equivalent
* Six months of direct patient care experience in a psychiatric setting or equivalent college-level coursework in nursing, psychology, or social work
* STNA certification or college-level coursework in nursing/psychiatry/social work preferred
