Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and execution of aircraft ground and flight operations.
  • Ensure effective management and successful implementation of mission sensor elements, including connectivity for dissemination.
  • Deliver training sessions, both software-based and practical, within areas of expertise.
  • Manage all aspects of flight operations, including pre-mission planning, aircraft and ground station readiness, vehicle start-up, launch, in-flight management, emergency response, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide expert knowledge in ground and flight testing, operational procedures, and maintenance protocols.
  • Conduct formal training sessions, workshops, and seminars under the guidance of a certified instructor pilot.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain the highest level of pilot proficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance system knowledge across the community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in the UAS sector, with prior AVO experience on a Piccolo-based platform or similar UAS preferred.
  • Possession of a Private Pilot License (PPL) and Instrument Rating (IFR) is mandatory.
  • A Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is advantageous.
  • Current ACTIVE Secret security clearance is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and familiarity with UAS flight systems and operations, particularly in large-scale developmental projects.
  • At least 100 flight hours on UAS platforms in a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) capacity.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Office Suite applications, including spreadsheets and collaboration tools, as well as proficiency in Adobe forms.
  • Must hold a current FAA Class 2 medical certificate.
  • Valid U.S. Passport is necessary.
  • Experience with OCONUS deployments is preferred.
  • While not mandatory, willingness to support OCONUS deployments may be requested.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
