Job Overview:
As a vital member of our Patient Access team, the Evening Patient Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless admission process for our patients. This position requires a commitment to delivering exceptional service while accurately processing patient information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately identifies and verifies patient information, ensuring the correct selection of medical record numbers when applicable.
- Efficiently inputs essential patient demographics and healthcare details into the Registration Module, demonstrating a thorough understanding of registration policies and procedures.
- Completes registrations with precision and timeliness, including reviewing health insurance details and notifying patients of any co-payment responsibilities.
- Determines health insurance eligibility by entering policy numbers into relevant systems and making necessary corrections to registration data.
- Ensures compliance with hospital policies regarding consents to treat, ensuring all necessary signatures are obtained prior to treatment.
- Communicates any special patient needs to clinical departments and distributes HIPAA information as required.
- Completes all assigned tasks by the end of the shift and participates in annual competency evaluations.
Customer Service Skills:
Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions, treating patients with respect and compassion. Responds to inquiries patiently and handles interruptions skillfully, striving to resolve any concerns to the satisfaction of our patients.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Above-average typing skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Previous experience in a reception or healthcare registration role is preferred.
