Financial Management, Reporting, and Compliance
- Oversees the daily operations of all financial activities, including disbursements, revenue collection, payroll management, and account reconciliations.
- Manages the monthly and yearly financial closing procedures, ensuring the preparation of comprehensive general ledger account analyses, journal entries, and necessary adjustments.
- Proactively manages cash flow; forecasts expenditures and follows up on overdue collections and outstanding commitments.
- Generates monthly internal financial reports.
- Ensures prompt payments to suppliers.
- Guarantees timely submission of reports required by regulatory bodies and funding organizations.
- Coordinates with external auditors to ensure compliance with deadlines and the timely provision of all necessary documentation and filings (including OMB Uniform Guidance, Form 5500, Form 990, etc.).
- Prepares annual financial statements and assists in the compilation of the 990 form.
- Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective action plans based on findings from the annual audit.
- Regularly reviews and updates the organization's Finance Policies & Procedures Manual as necessary.
- Works closely with the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis to create financial reports for committee evaluations, decision-making, and Board presentations.
- Engages with program Vice Presidents to assess the financial implications of departmental services; identifies potential opportunities and risks.
- Supervises a team of accounting professionals and grants administrators.
- In collaboration with the CFO, establishes the strategic and operational direction of financial processes, workflows, and communications with program staff.
- At the direction of the CFO, leads special projects aimed at enhancing processes and fostering innovation across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles applicable to non-profit organizations.
- Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including roles in financial leadership.
- Familiarity with government contracts and revenue recognition standards.
- Experience managing teams of five or more.
- Extensive knowledge of various accounting software; familiarity with Great Plains and Financial Edge is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
