Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to the tax team to help achieve results, build expertise, and inspire the next generation of tax leaders.
  • Client Acquisition and Retention: Participate in obtaining new clients in partnership with strategic relationships and community networks, and be responsible for client relationships and retention.
  • Strategic Tax Planning: Work with peers and leaders to create and present strategic tax planning solutions to high-net-worth clients and closely held businesses.
  • Project Management: Manage consulting and tax projects, including charitable giving calculations, private foundation minimum payouts, and miscellaneous tax and financial planning projects.
  • Review and Analysis: Review tax returns, quarterly and annual income tax projections, estimated tax vouchers, extension forms, and related work papers and financial statements.
  • Professional Development: Commit to continuing education, team development, training, and mentoring new tax associates.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 8+ years' tax experience working in private or public accounting firm or financial planning firm.
  • Certifications: CPA or EA required.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Client-Centric Tax Consulting: Experience providing client-centric tax consulting to high-net-worth clients, partnerships, trusts, and closely held entities.
  • Research and Technical Knowledge: Strong research capabilities related to technical matters for complex tax needs and updates to regulations.
  • Tax Compliance Software: Mastery of various tax compliance software products (CCH or GOSystem preferred).
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Highly effective interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills in a high-energy culture to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Talent Development: Demonstrated talent development experience, training new staff, and mentoring interns.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
