Overview:

The Electric Ride Technician is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and executing repairs on a diverse range of amusement rides and attractions.

Key responsibilities encompass the upkeep of: AC & DC motors, soft starters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, switches, and managing voltages up to 480V.

This role also provides support to Ride Maintenance Technicians as necessary. The ability to climb and work safely at heights is a crucial aspect of this position.

Hourly Pay Rate:
$32.22/hr. - $40.43/hr. The offered pay rate is determined based on relevant experience, knowledge, and skills, among other factors.

Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, rebuild, and inspect electrical systems and components of rides to ensure proper operation in accordance with company standards and policies.

Assist in the troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Conduct inspections and evaluations of rides for optimal functionality, identify and investigate any malfunctions or irregularities, and promptly notify supervisors of any safety concerns.

Diagnose and repair malfunctions utilizing electrical schematic diagrams, computers, programmable logic controllers, testing equipment, and meters. Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation on inspections, preventive maintenance, updates, and modifications.

Review various records and reports, including ride manuals, electrical programs, technical manuals, operating schedules, and maintenance check sheets.

Ensure rides are maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards to guarantee the safety of operations and guests.

Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for individual or groups of attractions and other equipment commonly used in theme park settings, including:
troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems, animations, and special effects.
Respond to downtime, repair, and recovery issues.
Diagnose system failures and implement immediate and long-term corrective actions. Research defective mechanically-controlled components and instructional information to facilitate the repair process when necessary. Systems may involve relay logic, PLC logic, or a combination of both, primarily Rockwell, with some Siemens and others.
Utilize technical manuals and resources while employing a systematic troubleshooting approach.

Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and work with 480V 3-phase motor control systems, including autotransformers, AC frequency drives, and DC soft starters. Input data into logbooks:
document inspections, corrective actions, repairs performed, and applicable parts used.
Support Ride Maintenance Technicians in repairs to rides, vehicles, and show equipment.

Consistently adhere to safe work practices, including the use of personal protective equipment, safe lifting techniques, and reporting unsafe conditions.

Maintain organized and current records in an accessible manner (e.g., logbooks, inspection forms, etc.). Ensure rides are clean and visually compliant with manufacturer specifications and company expectations.
Keep maintenance areas tidy, including stations, equipment, and tools.

Qualifications:
Education

High School diploma/GED; Some College in Electronics, Control Systems, Electrical, or a related field.

Experience


A minimum of five (5) years of combined education and work experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, is required.

Minimum Age: At least 18 years or older.

Qualifications:
Proficient knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.
Experience with logic systems, including relay and programmable logic control (PLC).
Familiarity with drives, including AC frequency and DC drives.
Ability to collaborate effectively with others in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
Ability to read, write, comprehend instructions, and communicate in English.

Capability to work safely and efficiently while elevated on ladders, platforms, or other structures at heights up to 320 feet above ground.

Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, in accordance with company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

Ability to successfully pass a background check, which may include credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, in accordance with company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
