Job Summary

The Co-Op Non-Field performs technical activities on assigned projects under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer and/or a Mechanical Designer EIT. Responsibilities include participation in technical studies, investigations, and designs on assigned projects, as well as assisting in the production of projects that are on-time, within budget, and of the utmost quality.

Responsibilities
  1. Under the supervision of a P.E. and/or E.I.T, performs evaluations and system calculations, including load calculations, ventilation schedules, etc., and contributes to the final project client proposal.
  2. Conducts site surveys to determine existing facility conditions with a staff/project manager.
  3. Assists in the design team in the coordination with other disciplines.
  4. Accompanies staff/project manager in performing project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
  5. Assist in preparing punch lists and project observation reports to note findings.
Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Must be a student at an accredited University pursuing a major in engineering.
  • Requires the student to work through the University's Cooperative Education program or similar program if the University has a Co-Op program.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.
Travel Requirements

10-15% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Climbing stairs. Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Quiet environment. Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
