Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Lead Educator and School Leadership, the Academic Support Specialist will contribute to the educational achievement and personal growth of all students within the designated classroom or grade level. This role involves close collaboration with students, families, and school personnel to enhance individual instructional and classroom management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a constructive, goal-oriented, and organized learning atmosphere where all students are engaged in their educational journey and character development, enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • Assist in lesson preparation tasks such as duplicating materials, collecting resources, and distributing supplies.
  • Collaborate with the educator to attain optimal outcomes for students and actively participate in the lesson planning process.
  • Employ effective classroom management strategies and appropriate student corrections and disciplinary measures.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records, including but not limited to: attendance, behavior, and student performance metrics.
  • Establish and uphold high academic and behavioral standards for all students.
  • Execute lessons, assessments, and character education initiatives as directed by the lead educator.
  • Provide individualized support through one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction, implementing tailored strategies with guidance from the lead educator.
  • Assist in maintaining student focus during class by consistently providing positive reinforcement, checking for understanding, and redirecting attention as necessary.
  • Support students in utilizing educational technology, including assisting with logins, reinforcing procedures, answering queries, and monitoring engagement.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other critical transitions throughout the school day.
  • Recognize, celebrate, and reward student achievements and character growth.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and the community.
  • Continuously enhance teaching abilities by seeking constructive feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Serve as a role model and representative of Hope Christian Schools in interactions with students, colleagues, and the broader community.
  • Adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct and mission.
  • Engage in the spiritual life of the students and collaborate with fellow team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in an educational setting is advantageous.
  • Experience working with youth and families in diverse communities is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in technology is essential.
  • A valid teaching credential or a willingness to obtain one is preferred.
