Job Summary

The Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to oversee the financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and budgeting, with the ability to analyze financial data and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB standards
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Manage the budgeting process, including forecasting and budgeting for administration, programs, and capital projects
  • Supervise and train financial staff, including accountants, bookkeepers, and financial analysts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, stakeholders, and external partners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
