Water/Wastewater Engineer Opportunity

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team in Fort Myers, Florida.

The ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years of experience in planning, design, and construction for water and wastewater treatment facilities. They will participate in design teams and be involved in a wide range of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.

This position includes leading and delivering municipal water and wastewater facilities planning and design projects. Responsibilities will include project management, preparation of assessment and design reports, performing design calculations, equipment sizing/selection, preparation of construction documents, and support of construction management/commissioning needs.

Field work and site visits from planning through construction and commissioning will be required. The position requires experience with project management or the desire to grow into a project management role.

The successful candidate will lead to an increasing level of client development and management commensurate with experience, supported by our local office and firm-wide technical resources.

Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred)
  • Experience in planning, design, and construction for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Proficient in all computer software typically used (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in AutoCAD and ArcGIS preferred
  • Experience in project management preferred
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, and be capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Self-starter with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Current PE license and the ability to obtain a P.E. license in Florida within six months of employment (if current PE license is from another state)
