Job Summary

Amports is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Director to oversee the day-to-day activities of our terminal operations. This is a key leadership role that requires strong management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with customers, employees, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of supervisors and operators to ensure efficient and effective terminal operations.
  • Scheduling and Labor Management: Schedule labor and adjust as business needs fluctuate to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Yard Planning: Manage and oversee yard planning to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Interview and select team members for hire to ensure the right skills and experience are in place.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Work Authorization: Must be able to obtain a TWIC badge (Transportation Working Identification Card).
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires working in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office, production setting, outdoor/indoor shop environment, or enclosed vehicle with adequate ventilation and protection from extreme weather conditions.

Physical Demands

This position requires light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative or production/technical nature. Manual dexterity is sufficient to reach and handle items.

Travel

This position often requires minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
