We are currently seeking an experienced Support Nurse - LPN to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires working days.

Job Description:

  • We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Nurse - LPN who can assist in providing the best possible patient care. You will work closely with our nursing personnel, including charge nurses and Directors of Nursing, to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • As a Support Nurse - LPN, you may be required to take call for staffing coverage to meet the needs of our patients.
  • You will assist in providing resident care, adhering to the Nursing Practice Act, and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • One of your key responsibilities will be delegating duties to non-licensed nursing personnel, monitoring their performance, and assisting in preparing work schedules as needed.
  • You will also contribute to Quality Assurance data collection, analysis, and corrective action implementation by the Quality Assurance Nurse.
  • In addition, you will assist with infection control measures for the unit and adhere to all regulations related to cleanliness, infection control, and Standard Precaution.
  • You will assist with records, orders, and assessments for new admissions to the unit and ensure that initial nursing assessments are completed accurately.
  • You will complete assigned resident assessments as directed by the MDS Nurse or Director of Nursing.
  • You will attend Nurse Department meetings as scheduled and participate in discussions to improve patient care and unit operations.
  • You will assist with monitoring and measuring decubiti weekly and completing integument watch assessment forms accurately.
  • You will report any performance issues observed among employees within the facility to the RN for determination of disciplinary action.
  • Additionally, you may be asked to send an employee home for the remainder of the shift if further investigation is needed.
  • You will document performance concerns on the appropriate form for review by the RN in the disciplinary process.
  • You will assist with lab requests as ordered per facility policy using proper techniques and re-post lab work as necessary.
  • You will review results and notify attending MDs according to established policies, protocols, and physician orders.
  • You will respond to emergencies arising during duty hours and perform CPR if needed.
  • You will assist with emergencies on other units as required.
  • You will notify attending physicians of changes or illnesses in patients on the unit and implement order changes instructed by MDs.
  • You will assist with general duties such as rounds with doctors, verifying completeness of nursing summaries, and updating MD orders.
  • You may be asked to provide hall coverage as needed.
  • You will coordinate the health care team, including rehab aides' duties and assignments.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing in accordance with NC Board Of Nursing Practice Acts.

Salary: $40-$50/hour based on experience and location.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree from an accredited School of Nursing with a current, valid license in North Carolina.
  • Quality-nursing care provided to patients; following doctor's orders and genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
  • CPR certification required yearly and attendance at in-service training and staff meetings as required.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding nursing and unit problems with consideration for potential consequences.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure, problem-solve, and adapt to various tasks.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies, as well as local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Must be able to maneuver medication carts, treatment carts, and other nursing equipment.
