Key Responsibilities
  • Embed tissue from surgical procedures and perform cutting and staining
  • Operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate tissue specimens with wax
  • Label requisitions, specimen containers, cassettes, and slides, and affix coverslips to slides
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and track routine maintenance and quality controls
  • Operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, and workstations
  • File, retrieve, and distribute blocks, slides, and pathology reports
  • Dispose of hazardous chemical waste per regulatory guidelines
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or completion of an accredited histology program preferred
  • Five years of experience in histopathology under the supervision of a Pathologist required
  • ASCP Certification as HT or HTL preferred
