Job Description

VocoVision is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide remote interpretation services for our clients in Georgia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with a minimum of two years of professional experience in schools.

  • Active certification from a sign language interpreting program (e.g., National Interpreter Certification, RID certification, etc.).
  • Georgia EIPA of a 3.5 or higher.
  • Minimum of two years of professional sign language interpreting experience in schools.
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with strong expressive and receptive skills.
  • Proficient in using video and audio-conferencing platforms, interpreting software, and related technology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional sign language interpretation services remotely, following the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
  • Conduct interpreting sessions effectively and seamlessly, ensuring clear communication between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals.
  • Adapt interpreting techniques and strategies based on the unique needs of the individuals being served, including the use of different sign language modalities (e.g., American Sign Language, Signed English, etc.).
  • Collaborate with clients, agencies, and other professionals to ensure a smooth interpretation process and meet the specific requirements of each assignment.
  • Utilize appropriate technology platforms and equipment to facilitate remote interpretation sessions effectively.
