Job Summary

Insomniac Holdings, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatrical Wig and Hair Specialist to join our Entertainment team. This position reports to the Entertainment Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and style theatrical wigs and hairpieces to meet approved design specifications.
  • Restyle, maintain, and make alterations to wigs and hairpieces as needed.
  • Work closely with performers to apply and secure theatrical wigs and headdresses during shows and rehearsals.
  • Assist team members with headdresses, wigs, and quick changes during show setup and run.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the lead hair artist or director.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment, adhering to all established health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Repair, construct, clean, and prepare wigs and hairpieces for shows.
  • Maintain ongoing maintenance of wigs, headdresses, and hairpieces.
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance and participate in rotation of duties as directed.
  • Clean up, repack, and store all headdresses and hair-related items after each show.

Requirements

  • Diploma in hairstyling or at least 3 years of relevant experience in theatrical wigs, hairdressing, and styling.
  • Ability to wash and set wigs and recreate styles from photos.
  • Hands-on knowledge of styling tools and pinning techniques.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of live entertainment and Insomniac brands/shows.
  • Experience in entertainment, film, theater, theme park, or live events is a plus.
  • Ability to work longer festival hours, which may total up to 12 hours onsite at times.

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments.
  • May work in drastic temperature climates.
  • Ability to frequently travel to work events during holidays, evening, and weekend hours, as required.
