Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utility Technician to join our team at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. As a Utility Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks related to the repair and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including emergency water main repairs and sewer system maintenance.
  • Assist in the setup of sediment control devices and prepare vehicle pre-trip inspection forms.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and dump trucks.
  • Assist in investigating and identifying solutions to utility problems, including main, service, meter leak, stoppages, and low water pressure.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver's permit within 90 days of hire or transfer date.
  • Must pass Department of Transportation physical and possess a DOT Medical Card.
  • Must obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement within 1 year of hire or transfer and maintain it while in this role.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Must be capable of lifting heavy objects (up to 90 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where there are routine risks of exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
Salary and Benefits

$27.48 per hour plus shift differential.
