Position Overview:
The MRI Imaging Specialist I is responsible for conducting magnetic resonance imaging examinations on patients across various age groups while ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.


Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assess patients prior to MRI procedures.
- Review patient questionnaires, medical charts, and requisitions to identify any contraindications for MRI examinations.
- Confirm and validate patient safety screening forms.
- Execute MRI protocols and perform daily quality assurance checks.
- Conduct venipunctures and maintain proficiency in this skill.
- Educate patients about MRI procedures, equipment, and the examination process.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after imaging procedures.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments.
- Administer appropriate contrast agents for MRI exams.
- Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images using PACS technology.
- Complete after-hours image transmission and necessary documentation.
- Report any equipment malfunctions and observe potential issues, escalating as needed.
- Maintain optimal equipment availability for patient access.
- Process billing through the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Mentor new staff and Radiology students.
- Stay updated with new technical information and skills.
- Participate in in-service training and professional development sessions.
- Potentially rotate through various imaging modalities and locations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program or equivalent institution recognized by the ARRT.


Certifications:
- Must hold a Registered Technologist credential from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing (R.T.(R), R.T.(S), R.T.(T), or R.T.(N)).
- Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)(ARRT)) is required within one year of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.


Work Complexity:
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologies is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to provide exceptional patient care.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or in other imaging modalities is preferred.


Physical Requirements:
- This role requires prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting patients of varying weights and handle equipment daily.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment weighing up to 75 pounds is necessary.


Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
