POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the guidance of the Nursing Manager and collaborating with agency physicians, this role is primarily responsible for the administration and management of medications, overseeing the Central Pharmacy operations, addressing client inquiries related to health concerns, supporting psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners, and evaluating clients' physical health issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Administer and dispense a variety of medications to clients, following specific medical directives and recording vital signs and reactions.

2. Support agency physicians by observing and documenting client behavior, conditions, and responses to treatments.

3. Manage the inventory, ordering, and documentation of prescribed medications and medical supplies.

4. Provide emergency medical assistance and first aid as necessary.

5. In the absence of a physician, evaluate clients during crises concerning medication and health issues, taking appropriate actions.

6. Assist clients requiring medication monitoring by implementing necessary measures.

7. Ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines in the management of the Central Pharmacy.

8. Complete all required documentation within 48 hours of initiation, adhering to agency policies.

9. Stay informed of all relevant policies and procedures, functioning in accordance with established standards.

10. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all pertinent federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional ethical standards.

11. Perform additional duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:

1. In-depth knowledge of mental health conditions and psychotropic medications, including potential side effects.

2. Familiarity with current diagnostic standards and practices.

3. Ability to build and maintain effective clinical relationships.

4. Must meet agency requirements for background checks as applicable.

EDUCATIONAL AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: A nursing degree from an accredited institution that qualifies for Registered Nurse status in the State of Ohio, along with all necessary licenses and certifications.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in mental health nursing is preferred.
