Job Summary

Luminis Health is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team in the Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery. As a key member of our Patient Access Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurate Patient Registration: Obtain and process patient demographic, insurance, and medical information with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring that patient records are up-to-date and complete.
  • Insurance Verification: Act on real-time insurance eligibility messages, adding, removing, correcting, and terminating coverages as necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure patients receive necessary regulatory information, including HIPAA, Patient Rights Brochure, IMM, NOOS, ABN, etc.
  • Technical Knowledge: Apply technical knowledge in multiple systems, including Epic-based applications, Meditech applications, administrative applications, and online applications.
  • Workflow Management: Independently prioritize workflow, including workqueue management, patient registrations, insurance verification, and other assigned tasks, to meet performance and productivity standards.
  • Financial Responsibilities: Communicate financial responsibilities to patients and collect funds accordingly.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Maintain a thorough understanding of downtime procedures and effectively perform job functions during such conditions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with clinical staff, coworkers, administration, and other external staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in registration and/or healthcare insurance preferred; experience in fast-paced, team settings preferred.
  • Typing Speed: 35 wpm, required.
  • License/Certifications: None required.
Working Conditions

This is a light work position, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
