MedStar Health is a leading healthcare provider in the Baltimore-Washington metro region. We are seeking an experienced Audiologist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Audiology, licensure as an Audiologist in Maryland or the District of Columbia, and certification by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). A minimum of 2 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience is preferred.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $90,000 - $150,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Role

This role involves providing a full range of diagnostic audiological and vestibular services to patients, including neonates, with hearing disorders or balance disturbances. The Audiologist will evaluate patient needs for hearing aid amplification, select, fit, and dispense hearing devices, and teach patients how to use and care for their hearing aids.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for counseling patients regarding test results, making appropriate recommendations, and providing family counseling on aspects of hearing and balance disorders.

Additional responsibilities include providing in-services to nursing staff and medical/ENT residents, serving as a resource representative for audiologists in the hospital, and completing progress notes and consultation summaries in medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confers and provides a full range of diagnostic audiology and vestibular evaluations on in- and out-patients on-site and at designated off-site locations, including infant hearing screening on newborns.
  • Evaluates patient needs for hearing aid amplification, selects, fits, and dispenses hearing devices, and teaches patients how to use and care for their hearing aids.
  • Counsels patients regarding test results and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Provides family counseling on aspects of hearing and balance disorders.
  • Provides in-services to nursing staff and medical/ENT residents.
  • Serves as a resource representative for audiologists in the hospital.
  • Completes progress notes and consultation summaries in medical records.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Audiology.
  • Licensure as an Audiologist in Maryland or the District of Columbia within 90 days.
  • Certification by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience preferred.
