Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide schedules and work direction for other employees
  • Collaborate with Facility Engineering on operation/equipment issues
  • Collaborate with Facility Manager on employee performance and pay issues
  • Responsible for hiring additional operation/maintenance staff
  • Test, treat, or oversee the treating of boiler water
  • Install, maintain, clean, and repair all boiler parts and stacks
  • Install, maintain, and repair stokers, conveyors, engines, pumps, strainers, condensers, etc.
  • Install, maintain, and repair all piping within powerhouse proper
  • Monitor plant compressed air load and operate Centralized and local HMI (s) to maintain proper header pressure
  • Keep log and make reports of power plant operations
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Instruct and assist other team members

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of experience in maintenance on industrial manufacturing production equipment and one year in a leadership position or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in Steam cycle/Boiler & Diesel generator equipment
  • Ability to read design drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines and diesel engine driven electric generators
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment
  • Working comprehension of electrical distribution, control panels, and medium voltage switchgear
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical, construction, or other industrial experience
  • Controls output of electric power, synchronizes outside powerlines, and distribution power by means of switchboard equipment during incoming utility disruption or curtailment event

Physical and/or Other Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly lift to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress
