Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary: As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Kaiser, you will provide high-quality patient care to a group of normal-to-high risk infants, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures. You will manage neonatal caseloads with physician consultation and collaboration, serving as a patient and family advocate in identifying healthcare needs and actions for neonatal cases. You will also coordinate pre- and post-operative care activities for normal-to-high risk infants and support neonatal units during crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret antenatal/perinatal health history and assess gestational age.
  • Perform specialized procedures on high-risk infants, including umbilical artery and vein catheterization, endotracheal intubation, suprapubic bladder tap, and lumbar puncture.
  • Order and interpret lab tests, radiographs, and routine diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with attending MD regarding treatment plans for assigned infants.
  • Develop, implement, review, and revise standards, procedures, and protocols for neonatal care.
  • Provide educational programs for staff to support quality improvement activities.
  • May perform patient care to maintain clinical expertise and direct the provision of care on the unit.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of experience in neonatal care.
  • Masters degree in nursing.
  • Multiple licenses and certifications required.

Requirements:

  • Skilled in patient advocate role to ensure patient-centered focus.
  • Strong patient assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of leadership, interpersonal relations, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Taxonomy code required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care setting.
  • Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority for Hawaii State.

Additional Information: Shifts may vary for this position, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts to meet the needs of the department.
