We are seeking a highly skilled Taxpayer Advisory Specialist to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a Taxpayer Advisory Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting taxpayers in meeting their Federal Tax obligations. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of taxpayers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist taxpayers in meeting their Federal Tax obligations by providing technical advice and guidance.
- Conduct interviews with taxpayers to determine their tax situation and provide advice on the probable consequences of various courses of action.
- Discuss tax law impact with tax practitioners and accountants, review books and records to gain understanding of taxpayer's financial status.
- Confers with taxpayers and/or their representatives to explain issues involving the applicability of tax law, regulations, notices and account adjustments.
- Assist taxpayers in preparing tax returns and explains the consequences of courses of action.
- Explains to taxpayers the collection and examination processes.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Federal experience is not required.
- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
- You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Relocation expenses - No
- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
