Care 4 U Community Health Center is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide behavioral health services to individuals struggling with mental illness and/or addiction. This position works with community resources to develop appropriate treatment and counseling plans for clients and partners with clients to address their behavior health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Discuss issues related to mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, poverty or other challenges with clients in individual or group therapeutic settings each week
- Assess each client's individual progress by reviewing treatment goals and marking benchmarks as they are achieved each month
- Partner with health center medical staff when designing an appropriate plan of treatment for clients
- Provide resources to the client and the family for additional services to help assist recovery from mental illness, addiction or physical conditions
- Offer counseling services to family members of the patient to help them develop a greater understanding of the challenges facing their relative
- Develop more knowledge and expertise in the field by regularly attending workshops, conferences and meetings in the industry
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, psychotherapy or counseling or related field (MS, MA, MSW, or M.Ed.),
- Licensed by the State of Florida as a LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT
- A minimum of two years' experience in conducting individual and group counseling sessions for individuals with mental health/substance abuse disorders
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, [e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)] and the principles of trauma-informed care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to serve people in distress and to collaborate with colleague from other disciplines
- Ability to apply one's knowledge and research to clinical problems
- Excellent writing skills in and computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to speak Spanish and/or Creole in addition to English.
- Knowledge of coding systems (e.g. CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes
- Enrolled as a provider with Medicaid, Medicare and other insurance plans
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems (eClinical Works a plus)
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Mental Health/Substance Abuse professional to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals struggling with mental illness and addiction. Care 4 U Community Health Center is a nonprofit, comprehensive community health center, providing a full range of health care and preventative services to our community's adult, adolescent, pediatric and specialty needs populations. We operate with the mission to eliminate barriers to accessing primary care by expanding medical care services to reach low-income individuals regardless of their ability to pay. The health center provides primary medical care for men, women, and children, including well-child visits; immunizations; HIV specialty care; and STD screening. We also provide outreach, case management/linkage to care services, on-site pharmacy, mental health and substance abuse counseling, transportation and emergency financial assistance services to low-income individuals in the high-need area of Liberty City.
