Job Summary

As a key member of our healthcare team, the Ultrasound Technologist plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves performing patient examinations and related activities, adhering to established protocols, and demonstrating a strong understanding of digital imaging principles and techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient examinations and related activities, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Review images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Assure the correct patient is being imaged, adhering to hospital protocol and checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing the examination.
  • Complete associated paperwork and perform QA/QC on equipment as needed.
  • Perform ultrasound examinations under the direct supervision of the Ultrasound Supervisor and Registered Ultrasound technologists in the department.
  • Stock exam rooms with basic supplies, start IVs, and administer contrast as needed, maintaining and adhering to accepted sterile techniques and providing a clean environment within the examination area.
  • Provide student technologists with basic procedural concepts within responsible modality.
  • Share emergency call as required.
  • Demonstrate appropriate computer skills and knowledge of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice.
Performance Expectations
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of sonographic imaging principles and techniques.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of sonographic imaging equipment and operation.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and ability to produce sonographic images according to established protocols and interpreting physician guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of PACS and digital imaging procedures.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and ability to provide sonographic imaging guidance for specialized studies, such as biopsies, thoracentesis, and others as required.
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication skills necessary to communicate with physicians, nursing and technical staffs, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Meet the educational and applicable experience factor requirements for registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certified with Sonogram Endorsement, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Senior student in certified Ultrasound program with clinical rotation experience in sonographic procedures.
  • Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
