Summary

Jail Health Services, a division of Public Health Seattle & King County, is seeking two Certified Nursing Assistants to provide essential healthcare services within the King County adult correctional facilities. The primary location for this role will be at the Maleng Regional Justice Center. This division is dedicated to delivering comprehensive health care to incarcerated individuals, with nursing staff responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing needs across various demographics.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering medical care within the correctional facility. This position operates under the clinical supervision of a Physician, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), or Registered Nurse, and is guided by a site manager or Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS). The CNA collaborates within a multidisciplinary team, performs administrative duties, engages in educational outreach, and adapts tasks to enhance clinic efficiency and patient flow.

Job Duties
  • Assist healthcare professionals with medication administration and patient observation.
  • Provide essential support to patients, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
  • Facilitate patient flow within the clinic, including taking vital signs and managing appointments.
  • Collect and document vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and assess their needs, referring them to healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Evaluate patient intake data for health risks and program eligibility.
  • Conduct patient interviews to gather medical, dietary, and social histories.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, including laundry and equipment.
  • Assist with laboratory specimen processing and transport.
  • Support blood glucose testing procedures.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of clinical supplies.
  • Input data into electronic health records and other databases.
  • Transport medications and supplies as required.
  • Guide patients in self-collection procedures for COVID-19 testing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Requirements:
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Washington State.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification with AED training required at the time of hire.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License or ability to provide transportation to work locations.
Work Schedule: These positions are full-time, benefitted, and may require night shifts and weekend work.

Work Location: Primary work locations include the King County Correctional Facility and the Maleng Regional Justice Center.
