About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Financial Officer to join our team at J/PR, a global communications firm specializing in public relations, content creation, and social media. As a key member of our leadership team, the CFO will be responsible for driving the financial strategy and success of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct the finance function, ensuring a balance of strategic and operational initiatives that support the growth ambition of the business.
  • Take responsibility for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company's financial strategy and hiring needs.
  • Coordinate the development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same.
  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
  • Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.
  • Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action.
  • Work with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting.
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement.
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives.
  • Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company.
  • Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities.
  • Build and maintain financial data models, reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics to identify business trends and guide data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver financial reporting and analysis to the CEO, strategic leadership group, and Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate actively with the CEO on financial matters of strategic value and importance to the organization and participate actively in identifying solutions and aids in the execution of the same.
  • Oversee all company insurance policies.
  • Oversee the comprehensive financial forecasting models to predict future revenue, expenses, and cash flow on a global scale.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to establish financial goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Monthly analysis of invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with client contracts.
  • Oversee the payroll functions and benefits from a financial perspective.
  • Integrate and optimize financial information systems.
  • Drive automation and process optimization of financial processes.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants.
  • Develop and build talent and a high-performing finance and accounting team through mentoring, feedback, and professional development.
  • Provide staff utilization reporting on a regular recurring basis.
  • Monitor human capital resource management.
  • Provides leadership to and subsequently leads the budgeting process in partnership with CEO, department directors and managers in the preparation and development of their budgets.
  • Oversees the administration of the organization's 401k retirement plan and ensures compliance with COBRA, IRS, ERISA and other related regulations.
  • Collaborates with and provides leadership and counsel to senior Human Resources leadership specific to the financial modeling and design of group health, dental, vision, and disability plans, etc.
  • Identify, analyze, and execute on corporate development opportunities, including partnerships and M&A.
  • ACA Compliance Reporting; Working Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
Accounting Duties
  • Lead and oversee the following:
  • Accounts receivable collections
  • Bank & credit card reconciliations
  • Maintaining orderly accounting filing system
  • Reports to/for management
  • Budget process
  • Monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes
  • Corporate tax reporting
  • Local, state and federal government reporting requirements
  • Other duties as needed
Other Accounting Responsibilities
  • Intercompany account reconciliations

  • Review and approve payroll & commission data
Requirements
  • Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  • Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and systems, payroll taxes, accounting methods and third-party reimbursement systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance and/or professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
  • International finance experience
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and investor relations
