About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the State of Indiana. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment vehicles, light vehicles, and tools. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet and maintaining the highest level of safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment vehicles, including snow-fighting equipment and dump trucks
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with light vehicles and tools
  • Assist in major overhauls of gasoline or diesel engines
  • Repair complex automotive problems, including replacement or repair of pistons, rings, crankshafts, and transmissions
  • Provide tools and equipment for job duties
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs
  • Ability to instruct others in the use of diagnostic equipment
  • Knowledge of employee training and development
  • Ability to understand the system of mechanical procedures
