About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the State of Indiana. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment vehicles, light vehicles, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform minor and major repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment vehicles, light vehicles, and tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in compliance with current procedures and safety practices.
  • Assist in major overhauls of gasoline or diesel engines, and repair difficult and complex automotive problems.
  • Provide service and repair of vehicles and equipment on an emergency basis.
  • Coordinate work assigned by the Shop Foreman and report problems as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or HSE diploma.
  • At least 1+ years of experience applying the knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to instruct others in the use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of employee training and development.
  • Ability to understand the system of mechanical procedures.
