An employer is seeking a Controls Systems Software Engineer to contribute to a robotics firm with opportunities for remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, streamline, and enhance the architecture of system controls, including machine control code, networking, electrical design, and safety protocols.
- Develop control software using structured text on Codesys and RSLogix 5000 platforms.
- Identify and implement optimizations within the system.
- Debug both internal and field issues; create tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Participate in value engineering for the electrical and controls hardware components of the system.
- Provide onsite support at testing facilities.
On-Call Support: 24/7 on-call support on a rotating schedule.
Compensation: $55/hour to $66/hour. Exact compensation may vary based on various factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefits: Benefit packages commence on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and access to a 401K retirement account with employer matching.
Employees in this position are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as mandated by applicable law.

Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing machine motion-control and axes-control systems for complex industrial automation products.
- 5+ years of control system experience in PLC and Structured Text-based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
- Proficiency in Object Oriented Programming.
- Embedded programming experience with C/C++, Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience in testing and implementing software, including embedded operating systems and programming.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in developing controls code utilizing the Codesys platform.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and 3-phase electrical design and systems.
- Knowledge of TCIP and industrial networks.
- Experience with industrial automation safety design.
- Experience in HMI design and development.
