Job Summary

We're seeking an Underwriting Manager to support our Financial Institutions Management Liability group. The primary purpose of this position is to actively participate in the production underwriting, marketing, and processing of financial institutions liability lines of business. Responsibilities may also include staff management and development.

This is a hybrid role in our New York office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the achievement of monthly and annual profitability and production goals and objectives for the public company management liability group.
  • Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions, focusing on Investment Advisers, Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, Private Equity, and REITs.
  • Ensure our marketing initiatives are achieved and that consistent communication of our products and services is provided to our retail and wholesale brokers.
  • Further develop existing broker relations and establish new relationships in targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
  • Provide reports and status updates, as required by the Regional Manager and head of Argo Pro.
  • Actively participate in client and broker meetings, as required.
  • Stay informed of the evolving economic and insurance marketplace to ensure understanding of underwriting trends, legal developments, and concerns.
  • Assist in the attraction, hiring, and retention of quality underwriting staff.
  • Ensure the professional development of underwriting team members, including continued growth in underwriting knowledge and skills, as well as professional behavior.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 8+ years of underwriting experience with authority in financial institution underwriting of management or professional lines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated robust and productive relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. marketplace.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with Imageright is beneficial.
  • Excellent organization skills, very strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines is essential.
  • Strong customer service with a professional attitude and approach is needed.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with various levels of the organization to cross-sell or address processing requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and procedures provided, as well as collaborate with a team.
What We Offer

At Argo Group, we offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $145,100-$199,500 USD for hires in the New York City area. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, as well as a generous benefits package.
