Job Summary:
The BIM Specialist plays a crucial role in the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for assigned projects at The Hill Group. This position requires a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with design, project, and client teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend project kick-off meetings to understand project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Review and provide input on value engineering and cost-saving measures.
- Manage electronic files and documentation according to department standards.
- Obtain and review project plans, specifications, and drawings from project engineers, architects, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate submittals and requirements with project engineers.
- Assist in preparing RFIs for project managers.
- Visit job sites and attend coordination meetings to ensure constructability and accuracy.
- Create coordinated construction drawings within department workflow standards.
- Review and manage construction/fabrication drawings produced by the Virtual Construction Fabrication Group (VCFG).
- Complete internal quality review checklists for all items submitted to the project team.
- Review architectural and structural drawings for coordination with mechanical/plumbing systems.
- Communicate with the project team to ensure fabrication/installation documents meet construction schedule requirements.
- Maintain contact with the project team to understand schedule priorities, sequencing issues, and changes to installation.
- Work with VCFG to create as-built drawings and ensure thorough accuracy.
- Turn over project documentation to project engineers for file archiving.
- Provide peer review of drawings of VCFG Design Techs assigned to projects.
- Assist in mentoring and training individuals within the group to promote growth.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and engineers.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience and/or 2-year degree.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Fabrication Software, Navisworks, and Revit.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and adjust to changing situations.
- Great attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Dependability, organization, and self-motivation.
- Effective communication, both written and verbal, with all company divisions/departments.
