BIM Specialist

Job Summary:

The BIM Specialist at The Hill Group plays a crucial role in implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) for assigned projects, fostering effective relationships with design, project, and client teams. This position requires expertise in converting design data into accurate models, ensuring constructability, and translating 2D drawings and specifications into a complete Building Information Model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend project kick-off meetings with the project engineer and Virtual Construction Group Supervisor to ensure a clear understanding of project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Review and analyze project specifications, budget, BIM schedule, and project schedule to provide input for value engineering or cost-saving measures.
• Manage electronic files and maintain organization according to department standards.
• Obtain and review current plans, specifications, Revit drawings, equipment submittals, installation matrices, and other documentation from project engineers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate submittals and requirements with project engineers and assist in preparing RFIs for the Project Manager.
• Visit job sites and attend coordination meetings to ensure effective communication and project progress.
• Create coordinated construction drawings within department workflow standards and review construction/fabrication drawings produced by the Virtual Construction Fabrication Group (VCFG).
• Complete internal quality review checklists for all items submitted to the project team and review architectural and structural drawings for coordination with mechanical/plumbing systems.
• Communicate with the project team to ensure that fabrication/installation documents provided by VCFG meet construction schedule requirements and work with the overall project team to ensure timely document review.
• Maintain contact with the project team to understand schedule priorities, sequencing issues, and changes to installation and work with VCFG to create as-built drawings and ensure thorough accuracy.
• Turn over project documentation to project engineers for file archiving and provide peer review of drawings of VCFG Design Techs assigned to the project.
• Assist in mentoring and training individuals within the group to promote growth and maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and engineers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience and/or a 2-year degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Fabrication Software, Navisworks, and Revit.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
