Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Barista to join our team at Books-A-Million in Montgomery, AL. As a Barista, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and operating our café equipment to prepare a variety of beverages and baked goods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate café equipment, including espresso machines, blenders, and ovens, to prepare coffee, specialty drinks, and baked goods.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to local, state, and federal sanitation guidelines.
  • Stock and merchandise the café, ensuring a visually appealing and well-stocked display.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers and responding to their needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with cash handling and balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Collaborate with the bookstore team as needed to ensure seamless customer service.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn and operate multiple café machines.
  • Cash handling skills and ability to balance cash drawer.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, or reach while performing daily activities.
  • Ability to lift/push objects up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 25 lbs. on a periodic basis with or without assistance.
