Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, evaluating outcomes and adjusting care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
- Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including adolescents, geriatric patients, and the general patient population.
- Assess and reassess pain and pain management techniques, educating patients and families on effective pain management strategies.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and identify dysrhythmias, demonstrating knowledge of cardiac monitoring.
- Assist physicians with office procedures, maintaining medical and surgical asepsis.
- Maintain medical equipment, disinfecting and sterilizing instruments as needed.
- Answer phone calls in a professional manner, referring patient problems to office practitioners as necessary.
- Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Function as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care.
- Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs, evaluating effectiveness and involving family members as appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
- Requisition lab tests as needed, maintaining established office/clinic policies and procedures.
- Plan and provide nursing care with physician orders, maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment, assisting in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Cooperate with other personnel to achieve office/clinic objectives, maintaining good employee relations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare plans and procedural costs, assisting physicians with procedures in the office/clinic.
- Supervise medical assistants and phlebotomists, orienting new staff as needed.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
- Aware of current state, federal, and local laws governing the delivery of care.
- Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat and clean appearance.
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including state, federal, and CMS regulations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled, completing work within designated time.
- Wear identification while on duty, using the computerized time system correctly.
- Complete in-services and return in a timely fashion.
- Attend staff meetings, read monthly staff meeting minutes.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Actively participate in performance improvement and quality improvement.
- Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicate the mission, vision, core values, ethics, and goals of the office/clinic.
- Work at maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
