Position Summary:

The successful candidate will become an integral part of a dynamic team dedicated to the preparation and development of both technical and commercial proposals. This role supports the Business Development and Sales Managers in their respective regions. Prior to proposal submission, the engineer will be responsible for developing comprehensive process designs, guarantees, and specifications for projects, reviewing technical drawings, and creating detailed bid sheets that accurately reflect project costs. Following project award, the engineer will ensure all internal processes are completed before transitioning the project to the execution team. Additionally, the role involves applying process engineering expertise to support the design of water and wastewater treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering and sales support for the development of technical and commercial proposals.
  • Engage in complex customer process solutions independently.
  • Determine appropriate design approaches to meet customer requirements, potentially supervising junior engineers.
  • Lead proposal efforts and collaborate with technology leads as necessary.
  • Gather vendor quotes to ensure competitive and precise proposal costing.
  • Prepare cost/pricing data, technical documentation, quotations, and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance of all designs with RFQ specifications and drawings.
  • Collaborate with other departments to finalize, verify, and analyze proposals.
  • Execute specific tasks related to process and general engineering functions as needed.
  • Meet proposal deadlines effectively.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of worksheets, design spreadsheets, and proposal templates.
  • Facilitate the handover of awarded projects to the execution team by clearly identifying sold elements and resolving any discrepancies regarding pricing, scope, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide post-sale support as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with end-users, EPCs, consulting engineers, distributors, sales managers, and suppliers.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret tender requirements, engineering specifications, and drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, GAs, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of key process unit operations such as Clarifiers, Filters, Membranes (UF, NF, RO), Ion Exchange, EDI, MBR, MBBR, etc.
  • Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in multicultural team settings is essential.
  • Effective planning and data analysis skills.
  • Willingness to learn new engineering concepts and procedures.
  • Sound understanding of water/wastewater treatment principles and their applications across various industries.
  • Negotiation skills with suppliers on both technical and commercial matters.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Adobe PDF) and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with sizing software for membranes and ion exchange systems is advantageous.
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are a significant asset, particularly in Spanish, Portuguese, or Arabic.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in application and proposal engineering within the water/wastewater sector or a comparable industry.
