Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Millwright Mechanic to join our team at 3M. As a Millwright Mechanic, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and reading precision testing and measuring instruments to ensure accurate results. You will also troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, making repairs or adjustments as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and read precision testing and measuring instruments to ensure accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, making repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Move material, equipment, and machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hosting, blocking, skidding, and rolling.
  • Install equipment and machinery according to layout plans, prints, or drawings using standard methods of leveling, tramming, and precision alignment.
  • Complete required shop paperwork and use reporting systems following established procedures.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal apprenticeship type training program of not less than four years or 8,000 hours in the Millwright Mechanic Craft Skill area.
  • OR Five years' work experience as a millwright mechanic, trained and experienced in the disassembly, assembly, rigging, moving, installation, setting, alignment, adjustment, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment, mechanical power transmission systems, and production machinery.
  • OR Minimum combined total of five years formal apprenticeship type training program and work experience in the Millwright Mechanic Craft Skill area.
  • Ability to pass the pre-employment Skilled Trades Test Battery.
  • Appropriate driver's license and pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to applicants trained and experienced in the installation and alignment and/or troubleshooting and repair of heavy production machinery.
