Role Summary

The Construction Cost Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project plans, specifications, and requirements to provide accurate cost assessments for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project documentation to determine labor and equipment expenses.
  • Lead a team of estimators in creating comprehensive estimates for large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and material pricing assessments.
  • Review bid documents to identify project risks and logistics.
  • Evaluate and compare bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team to review estimates and quotes.
  • Prepare estimates at various stages of project development (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, etc.).
  • Engage in post-bid buyout processes.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings with clients, owners, and engineers.
  • Act as the liaison between owners, architects, and engineers, fostering effective communication and leadership.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating heavy civil projects, including highways and bridges.
  • Proficient in estimating software, particularly HCSS Heavy Bid.
  • Strong skills in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Carlson, InRoads, or Geopak is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
  • Understanding of horizontal and infrastructure project aspects.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
