About the Role:
Gundersen Health System is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our team in Hillsboro, WI. As a Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing top-notch patient care and medication management services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes, including advising physicians on issues concerning drug therapy and assisting in the prescription of appropriate doses for appropriate indications.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with medical, administrative, and nursing staffs.
- Individualize medication regimes using sound principles, accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination.
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications to patients and make decisions regarding generic/therapeutic substitutions.
- Oversee and be responsible for acquisition, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals throughout the organization.
- Provide additional support and vision when developing and implementing long-term pharmaceutical goals, the purchase of equipment, and the provision of pharmacy services.
- Maintain appropriate records as required by law or by the organization.
- Monitor and report on the use of pharmaceuticals within the institution, including medication errors, adverse reactions, drug use, evaluations, and special requests.
- Investigate and take appropriate actions to resolve pharmaceutical issues throughout the hospital, nursing home, and clinics.
- Maintain knowledge of current Infection Control Issues and practice.
- Maintain technician supervision and coordination in the absence of the pharmacy manager.
- Adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
- Personally interact, engage with, and care for patients.
- Ensure patient safety.
- Serve as an information resource for affiliated and non-affiliated entities in an effort to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Contribute to the professional attitude and appearance of the pharmacy by consistently maintaining a patient-safety-focused environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned.
Educational Qualifications:
- Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, additional education preferred.
- Hospital pharmacy residency preferred.
- Working knowledge of clinic-based operations (vaccinations, medication sampling, supply requirements, etc.) preferred.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin.
